Students’ Union

A Students’ Union named ‘Sikharthi Samsad’ works as nurturing ground for the overall development of the mental and moral faculties of the students. It is regarded as the training ground for students for shouldering civic responsibilities in the future course of their life. Each regular student of the College is a member of the Union and he/she is eligible to participate in the Union Elections. In order to maintain the tranquil atmosphere conducive to academic activities and to keep up the cultural identity of the College, the Students’ Union of this College works throughout the year by organizing academic and cultural functions, sports meets, seminars etc.

Students’ Union extends a warm welcome to the new entrants on the starting day. An Annual Sport is organized in the second week of January. A wall magazine is published quarterly.

Blood Donation Camp

February 02, Gopal Chandra Majumdar’s Birthday is celebrated through the ‘Gopal Chandra Majumdar Memorial Lecture’. Last year, more than 55 students donated blood on the occasion out of 100 students.

Students’ Benefit and Support System

a) Financial Assistance:

The College provides financial assistance to needy fresher students from the ‘Student Aid Fund’. The funds are generated by the students of each session. Applications for free studentships must be addressed to the Principal/Teacher-in-Charge in the prescribed form after the notification. Students from SC, ST and BPL Card holders’ categories are entitled for special stipends. For this purpose they have to fill the prescribed proforma authenticated by the Principal/Teacher-in-Charge. Some criteria for financial assistance from ‘Student Aid Fund’ are as:

i) He/she must be economically backward
ii) He/she must be a fresher candidate
iii) His/her attendance must be above 75%
iv) He/she must not be guilty of misconduct with the teaching or nonteaching staff or fellow friends.

b) Common Room:

There are separate common rooms for male and female students. Indoor games facilities are also available.

c) Play Ground:

There is a play ground adjacent to B. T. College Bus Stand. Different sports like intersection football, cricket and annual sports are organized by Sikharthi Samsad in this College ground.

d) College Canteen:

A College canteen will be started from this session as per resolution of G. B.
